My approach to treatment is practical and hands-on. I bring warmth, humor, approachability and an easy going manner to the work I do with my clients which enables me to connect with them in a meaningful way. I often utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) although I leverage a combination of therapeutic modalities as necessary. Whatever methodology is needed, my goal is to create an encouraging, safe and supportive therapeutic environment.  My approach is direct, effective and tailored to your specific needs and experiences. We will establish goals based on your immediate concerns, collaboratively generate solutions and determine what will work the best for you and your family.

My emphasis is on establishing a collaborative, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive therapeutic relationship that is focused on creating positive and observable improvements to your child’s mood and the situations that they find challenging.  Being able to help children confront their fears, improve their self-esteem, cope more appropriately with their feelings, increase their self-awareness, and strengthen their social and family relationships is a real privilege. Getting your child back to not only fully participating in their life but enjoying it is an achievable goal and one that I pride myself on helping families attain.

Parents play a critical role in the therapeutic process. I strive to educate parents about their child’s struggles and to help them help their children. When parents have a better understanding about what is going on with their child, frustration decreases, families feel less overwhelmed and they are more able to proactively assist with the issues at hand.
